Drew Denbo
Senior Business Development Advisor
Drew Denbo has spent over 20 years working in the digital music and gaming industries. His career in the digital music space started at a personalized internet radio technology company called TuneTo in 2000, where he led partnerships and business development. As the dot-com bubble began to burst in late 2000, the TuneTo team changed course and built a “legal Napster” prototype, code named “Aladdin.” On the promise of delivering the technology that would support the first ever “celestial jukebox,” TuneTo was acquired by one of the established digital music companies at the time Listen.com in 2001. The TuneTo streaming technology ultimately provided the backbone of Rhapsody, the world’s first legal, full catalog digital music subscription service. Drew served as the General Manager of Business Development at Rhapsody for 10 years, responsible for content licensing, tech licensing and distribution.
Through the course of his career, Drew has led business development teams focused on distribution, copyright and technology licensing for Rhapsody, MOG/Beats Music and from 2012-2019, was Head of Business Development for Amazon Digital Music. He has negotiated and closed strategic partnerships with large scale companies across multiple verticals including automotive, mobile carrier, MSO, PC OEM, speaker OEM, retail, influencer, consumer web and mobile app vendors. Most recently, Drew led business development for Skillz, a competitive mobile gaming platform that IPO’d on the New York Stock Exchange in December 2020.
Drew completed a BA in History at Washington and Lee University and an MBA at UC Berkeley. Outside of work, he loves the outdoors, spending substantial time in the mountains and by the ocean, paddle boarding, surfing, mountain biking, backpacking, and skiing.
